Cen Long, his world of art

Biography

Cen Long (b.1957,Chinese). Simple style, extravagant brushwork, rigorous modeling, calm layered colors, and power all come together to express profound meaning that can endure time and captivate the imagination of people. The deep strokes of his brushwork deliver feeling into the painting. From his works, one can feel the fresh and tranquil moments that allow people who live in the pressures of daily life to re-experience the beauty of silence and return to the simple aspects of human nature.

Words from Sponsor

I believe that Cen Long’s works neither belong to classical realism nor can they be classified as modern painting. He is himself, an extraordinary painter living in the modern world. That is what makes him invaluable. (Metra Lin)

Art Critics

Cen Long is like an artist in the Silver Age, who is caught in between the glorious and absurd times. He longs for the glory of the Golden Era while lamenting for its recession, knowing that it shines will not return; yet he refuses to follow the crowd willy-nilly, instead, he strives to build his own Silver Age, the transitional age between the divine and the depraved. Such ambition has made his painting techniques and sentiments tranquil and interesting, apart from our flashy world.

Cen Long took northern farmers, nautical fisherman and Xinjiang nomadic people as his topics, and creates a self-contained and symbolic ideal world, where his effort in this individual utopia has became nearly religious. (Huang Zhuan)
