Overview

Bringing a Ray of Hope to the World

Our world is currently experiencing one of the most turbulent times in centuries, affected by pandemics, natural disasters, and wars. The rapid development of technology has brought unprecedented convenience, yet the indiscriminate use of technology to mimic and replace human nature raises the question: are we losing the essence of our existence as humans? Art, as a form of social engagement, embodies a spirit of reflection and critique, constantly reminding us of the boundaries we must uphold in our humanity and the social responsibilities we should bear. In 2024, Hann Art will curate a groundbreaking exhibition at the Taipei International Art Fair, with the theme “Hope,” showcasing the works of several important artists and emerging creators, including Cen Long, Yasuko Hayashi, Beatriz Martin Vidal, Alberto Alvarez and Matteo Casali Caramello.

Cen Long (b. 1957) exhibits a rare elegance and timelessness in contemporary art, with a core focus on humanitarian concerns, bringing hope to people. Yasuko Hayashi (b. 1974) constructs spiritual spaces through nihonga, providing tranquility and peace, acting as a refuge from the chaos of modern life. Beatriz Martin Vidal (b. 1973) creates whimsical works that explore the mental world of adolescents, highlighting their unique perspectives. Alberto Alvarez (b. 1976), born in Argentina and having experienced significant political changes in South America, addresses the historical scars left by social conflicts in his thought-provoking creations. Emerging artist Matteo Casali Caramello (b. 1994) starts from a painter’s perspective but does not limit himself to specific media, demonstrating the flexible mindset of the new generation of creators. Hann Art aims to present the works of creators from different generations and countries, bringing a diverse range of art to the audience at the Taipei International Art Fair. Their humanitarian concerns fulfill the social responsibilities expected of artists.
