Overview

The theme of the exhibition this time is “Asian Contemporary Paintings – Oriental Thoughts and Concepts”. The works of Chiu Dou from Taiwan, Yasuko Hayashi from Japan, and Cen Long from China will be exhibited in the method of themed curation.

Among the young artists in Taiwan, the painting style of Chiu Dou, which is near to abstract expressionism, is obviously outstanding and unique. The artist has his own system and path for art creation, which is clear with continuity. His works are suitable to be viewed with a larger scale – among all kinds of contemporary arts in Asia, and the energy within them can be luminously shown.

The Japanese painter, Yasuko Hayashi, is used to apply the realistic method to illustrate the oriental feminine meditation.  Her works, most of them being Nihonga, different from other Japanese modern painting, discarding the formalist and the straightforward style, epitomizes a subtle philosophy of purity and aestheticism.

Cen Long is an artist from China. In his opinion, the quintessential element of contemporary art is the profound reflection of human nature and he tries to represent his experience by classic expressionist method, developing a new organic style different from the impatient and impetuous trend of art in China.
