Overview

Chiu Dou

The painting style of Chiu Dou, which is near to abstract expressionism, is outstanding and unique among the younger artists in Taiwan. With his flow of clear continuity, the artist has his own system and path for art creation. The energy in his works can be fully perceived when evaluating his works from a higher vantage point of the world of contemporary arts in Asia. He has been experimenting to collaborate various media including pencils, charcoals, pastels, and colored pencils, in hope of striking a different spark. Presenting expressions of different media, his works now exhibit an evolved painterly stroke characterized by an enhanced readability of spaces and boundaries that are sometimes ambiguous and at other times, well defined. By utilizing the different shades of gray, he has created for himself, a greater freedom to wander and explore his creations.

Roman Nogin

Born in city of Kharkov in 1976, Roman Nogin completed a degree in Art and Theatre at the Kharkov State Art College in 1994. In 1999, he graduated from the Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts with a Master’s in Mural and Decorative Art. In 2001, Nogin became a member of the Kharkov chapter of the Union of the Artists of Ukraine. Nogin has since participated in exhibitions in Europe, the States, and Asia. He is an international artist: some of his works were auctioned by Christie’s in London. His main occupation, aside from teaching at the Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts, is painting.

Laden with rich, vibrant colors and intricate expression, audiences will immediately feel the intensity and passionate lure of Nogin’s art. The variegated expressions of the female sex and the fluid body language of his figures are unique and thought-provoking elements of Nogin’s aesthetic Romanticism.
